Bernita happens to be one of my roommates from college...in fact she was THE most entertaining person I could have ever bunked with. The best times of my undergrad years were spent in our dorm watching (and re-watching) The Color Purple until we could recite every single line. Same with The Wiz! We learned the "Bankhead Bounce" while watching a Micheal Jackson concert on repeat. Come to think of it, many of my fondest memories are of us spending watching tv in our room which was a hangout spot for our fellow marching band members too.
Bernita has steadily referred clients to me over the years and I was so excited to be able to thank her with a photoshoot just for her. She's starting a business as a travel agent and wanted some fun and relaxed images for her website.
We had fun coming up with her outfit selections. She's a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., so we had to incorporate at least one red outfit. We chose yellow to represent her cheerful personality. She's always thiiiiis close to bursting out into laughter, a song, or both! Also, please get into the flowers in her hair! I adore using them as accessories in my shoots, and it happens to be her signature look.
